Outline of the Traquair Shakespeare Festival in 2012

Traquair House is the oldest continuously inhabited country house in Scotland. For many years it has run the Traquair Festival, the Traquair Mediaeval Festival and annual Shakespeare productions in the mature grounds of the House.

In 2012, to celebrate the World Shakespeare Festival, the Traquair Shakespeare Festival will run from 26th to 27th May. The festival will include:

  • theatrical workshops run by the RSC and others; Elizabethan and Mediaeval music concerts; a series of Shakespeare-related productions on an open-air stage; and promenade performances of 'Twelfth Night' by Shakespeare at Traquair.
  • a range of Elizabeth events to make Shakespeare's time come alive. Events under consideration include: an Elizabethan pageant; a falconry exhibition; jousting and fights; archery; and stalls with Elizabethan-style crafts, food, and drink.

Traquair is inviting community, amateur, and professional theatre groups participating in the RSC Open Stages programme, or based in the Borders, or from further afield to apply to perform at the Traquair Shakespeare Festival. We hope you will come.
